service description
DataCite Event Data service (prototype) retrieves and exposes the activity that occurs around research data objects. In particular, Event Data brings to light links between publications and data, citations, software, reuse, documentation, etc. This service is developed in collaboration with Crossref and follows the Scholix Framework developed by the joint Research Data Alliance/ICSU World Data System Data Publishing Services Working Group.
The events are found via the relatedIdentifier and nameIdentifier attributes of DataCite Metadata, and via external services (so-called 'sources') that collect information about DataCite DOIs. Examples of events include references to related data, data citations in journal articles, and new versions of a work.
